The Ancient Fortress of Shali Rising from the center of the oasis is the spectacular Shali Fortress. Built in the 12th century, this labyrinth of ruins was constructed using a unique local material called kershef—a hardened mixture of clay and rock salt. Your guide will walk you through the ancient alleyways and up to the highest vantage points for a panoramic view of the lush date palm groves and olive orchards that blanket the oasis.
Crystal Salt Lakes & Natural Springs Siwa is famous for its healing waters. You will visit the mesmerizing, bright turquoise Salt Lakes where the incredibly high salt content allows you to float completely effortlessly on the surface. Afterward, rinse off and relax in the bubbling waters of Cleopatra’s Spring, a natural stone pool where legend says the famous Egyptian queen herself once bathed.
Eco-Friendly Serenity & Sunsets Siwa is a pioneer in Egyptian eco-tourism, known for its sustainable lodges and deep respect for the environment. You will experience this natural harmony firsthand as you head to Fatnas Island (Fantasy Island). Surrounded by the calm waters of the salt lake and rustling palm trees, it is arguably the most spectacular spot in the entire Western Desert to sit back with a cup of traditional Siwan tea and watch the sun set.
